Week of July 25th

So I'l be staying in Charleston for another 6 weeks at least, phew :)
I love love it here, just saying. Our little branch has just been such
a strength for me, like they are our little family and home away from
home, so they keep me sane and I'm grateful for it.
A lot of our plans fell through this week and basically lots of things
went wrong.. BUT hey I love being a missionary so I'm just going to
talk about all the good things :) like getting a little tour of a C17
on the Air Force base with Micheal was pretty neat! And our sweet
friend Keisha has like a whole pack of husky puppies that always make
our day. Seriously they're so cute. They attack us and one time the
little guy grabbed my bun and tried to take off with me..its the best
haha
Then we made chocolate chip cookies and delivered them to our people
so that was pretty cool.
AND the people we were able to see, made such a difference. Like I
think that'll always be my favorite part of being a missionary. And
it's so cool to feel the Lord help His children through you, but then
actually He is teaching us too. Like everything we taught and helped
people with this week, helped me too.
I'm just forever grateful for the reality of my Savior Jesus Christ
and all He encompasses. Like even when we mess up, He loves us and is
proud of us. We will always be enough because of Jesus Christ. What a
stinkin beautiful message. I love my Savior with my whole heart and
soul.

Week of July 18th

This past week was so good :)
We had a lot of really powerful lessons where the Spirit was so
strong. I just really love helping people strengthen their
relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. And just helping
them to be happy!
Sorry it's short this week, but we are going to see an airplane that
Micheal (kid in the Air Force, and also our bff) is working on! It's
really neat that we have so many military kids in our area.
Yeah basically I just really love my little branch and all the people
Heavenly Father has placed in my path, I'm so lucky :)
Like last week we had a ton of cut up tomatoes left over from our taco
salad linger longer, and I mentioned that I really wanted to make
salsa. Andddd I just got some fresh peaches, so Michael made peach
salsa with us and it was the sweetest.

Week of July 11th

Possibly one of my most favorite things about being a missionary is
feeling Christ's love for everyone. At 20 years old I mostly have no
idea what I'm doing haha and especially am not capable of helping
people to the capacity that they need, but the Lord is. And I just
love working with Him :)
And seeing people recognize and understand Christ love, their purpose,
and then choosing to act upon that brings me so much joy! I love
seeing people happy and progressing. Like Sam.. He just got the
Melchizedek priesthood last week and he was so happy and he went to
the temple to do his uncles work and I just love the gospel.
Also, just thought y'all should know we go and sing to old folks for
an hour every week and they tell me I'm good haha
It's always a highlight, like this guy will sing the words right after
we say them so he sounds like he's singing along, the love us and tell
us how much we make their week, but really they make ours <3
And let me just tell ya, the southern hospitality is real. Like its
hot here, and humid. And we had an appt with this kid, but we have to
sit outside because we can't be alone with a guy, so he brought his
fan out. Expect it broke.. So he just help it up for us the entire
lesson, which was an hour long. I'm not sure it made much of a
difference but it was the sweetest thing of my life. Also the peaches
here are swell.

Week of July 4th

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY

Can I just tell you how blessed we are to live in the US? My mission,
like everyone else's has totally had its ups and downs, and yeah I'm
not foreign but I love the south and my life just doesn't get any
better.
Highlights this week.. The Lord has definitely opened my eyes to the
little things, and just like what really matters. Like a majority of
the excitement this week was the food, but looking back there are
always such tender mercies. I've had these little blessings where the
Lord was just really able to testify and touch hearts through me and
it's so neat to be apart of.
Like this sweet kid named Chris. We had this super stellar lesson of
the plan of salvation. He is really busy though so he asked us to come
meet him at his gym. We get there and he is hard core like just
working out haha idk how to explain it but he's an MMA/cage fighter so
he knows what he's doing.. But he like just stops mid workout to
listen to us. And he is dripping, like intense workout plus the south
is quite the puddle. But it was just so real to help him remember his
purpose, and to testify of the beautiful truths of God plan of
happiness for us. Like I know without a doubt we will return to live
with God, and nothing sounds sweeter to the soul.
Mean while, the temp in the gym is a solid 99 degrees and Sister
Heaton and I start looking like we just ran a stinking marathon, but I
didn't even notice because Christ's focus and purpose for me was to
help Chris feel the Spirit and recognize these important truths. We
after decided that if we could make it through an hour like that we
could do anything right? But it's just so amazing how when we focus on
what's important, those little negative things go unnoticed.
I think it's pretty cool that we are constantly shown the things we
need to change. I never knew how imperfect I was until I served a
mission haha but I love it and I'm just so happy, and those little
things do not define us. So yeah that was pretty neat.
ALSO so super funny but this kid in our branch( can I just tell you
how much I love them all) but yeah this kid like goes way out of his
way to invite a friend over to make us this bomb like real chef food,
and it's always the best. Anyways he bought this really good I don't
even know what kind of cake, and gave us like these huge slices. ( it
was literally an 8th of the cake). Then they had to leave to run to
work so we decided to be sneaky and stay to clean up for them.. Well I
was just looking at the box to check calories( yeah idk why) but I
read "1/8 is 320 calories" so I'm telling sister Heaton that we are
totally fine, like that's nothing.. Turns out it was "1/18" of a cake.
What.
Hahaha gross, but it was so so funny.
Like our bodies changing on our missions is inevitable, which is okay
because it kinda doesn't matter. It honestly was something I initially
struggled with, but I realized that I am here(on mission and life) to
grow spiritually. I am not here to get to the great and spacious
building, but to the tree of eternal life. And I am here to help
others a long the way. I'm grateful that God loves us enough to teach
and humble us.
I used to think serving in the south is so hard because it's the Bible
Belt and there is literally a different church on every corner.. The
humidity and summers are long and your hair or skin will never be
tamed..Everyone would say " prepare to gain weight because they love
to eat in the south" ( which yeah I've never eaten more calories in my
life). And I used to think yeah wow my mission is rough
BUT IN REALITY. I'm thankful to be surrounded by people who believe in
Jesus Christ, and love Him, and what a neat opportunity I have to help
Him to show them more and all the blessings He has to offer, sure it's
tough but the Lord somehow blesses us along the way to strengthen our
testimonies. I have never known the church was truer. And I'm thankful
for this foundation for which the Lord has built me on. Humidity...
Well I guess I don't have to wear lotion as much and I'm thankful for
all the bugs(totally typed that with a straight face) and I am so
thankful to have food in my belly at every meal. What a blessing. The
Lord constantly reminds me that I am not my own, I'm thankful He
allows us to go through trials of all shapes and sizes, to show us who
we really are and most importantly who He really is. We just simply
follow His example, and take it day by day. Try a little harder to be
a little better. Literally just LOVE HIM, come unto Him, and He will
guide and comfort us along the way.
I'm grateful this life is forever changing, and that my God is my constant.
And yes this totally came to me as I was eating this 1,000 calorie
piece of cake and decided that there are far more things that are
important in this life :)

Like my sweet cousin Sage was baptized this weekend and it makes my heart swell

Week of June 27th

Can I just tell you how much I love the south, and Charleston totally
has my heart. The people and the places like wow I'm just so happy
But I've totally l learned that happiness doesn't come from our
circumstances, it's more just like who we are, and have to choose to
be. There are disappointments everyday, but there is also so much
good. And it's cool how the gospel of Jesus Christ helps us so much.
Like Christ is compared to the sun at noon day, he helps us to see the
beauty and blessings around us, even without being able to see Him. He
has totally opened my eyes, and I'm just forever grateful for my life.
Also okay so we get to meet so many people, and I love that we are all
different. Like we get to learn and take little things from each
person we meet in this life, how neat. This week we saw Steven, he was
baptized a couple of months ago and we are just really trying him to
live the gospel. We meet at this cute little pond and he brings bread
to feed the turtles. He also just started just singing this hymn in
the middle of our lesson, and Urla the alligator stared swimming
towards us.. Yeah what haha but seriously there is never a dull moment
with Steven
Wednesday was my 2 year mark and we got to see Sam who sang happy
Mormon birthday to me so that was a highlight, and we also taught the
restoration to this kid who is planing to go on a mission and it was
super spiritual and it was just a perfect Mormon bday, not to mention
we got ice cream too :)
On Friday we had zone conference and the young men in the stake tagged
along for a little on a mini mission to help them prepare and get them
excited for their missions. I loved hearing their testimonies and why
they want to serve, it was so neat. I'm just so thankful that Heavenly
Father constantly reminds me why I am here and how much I stinking
love doing His work, we just just have to open our eyes right
Ps I love hearing from y'all, know I just take ya in my little heart
where ever I go
ALSO SAGE HAPPY BAPTISM THIS WEEKEND I LOVE YOU GIRLY
And aurora YSA branch I got your package, what cuties thanks so much :)
Love and miss you all <3

Week of June 20th

I'm in Charleston and I'm so in love! Oh yeah also.. I'm in the YSA
branch, which means I cover ALL of the Charleston area. Basically it's
the neatest. My areas cover Moncks Corner, Summerville, West Ashley,
North Charleston, downtown Charleston, Goose Creek and Mt Pleasant. We
also have the Citadel, the Air Force base, the Navy base and it's so
awesome because we teach a lot of Navy kids. I met this kid named Sam
who was baptized back in November right before he came out for boot
camp and it's just been such a strong testimony to me of how much the
gospel is real and blesses lives, and he is stoked that I'm a convert
too! Also okay so his younger sister is getting baptized this weekend
back home, and my heart is just so swollen for him because it reminds
me so much of lace and I and wow I'm just so lucky. It really just
feels like home, and I'm so so happy to be here :)
Like Conway is great and totally still has my heart, but I'm just so
excited for my next little adventure! Also ok so my little YSA branch
back home hello I miss you and know I think about you!  Oh yah and my
new comp is named Sister Heaton and she is darling.
Oh my goodness you guys haha okay so speaking of Conway, last week we
got attacked by goats. I'm not even joking, we went to this little
family's house and they have their yard fenced in with a gate, and
these random goats were standing between us and the gate. Well we soon
found out they actually weren't home but we needed to leave a note.
The goats like charged us so we hopped back in the car. They were big
goats I promise.. But then they started like ramming into our car and
the bike rack, so we backed out and tried to go around back. When we
were walking on the other side I was joking with sister Campbell that
the goats were going to hop the fence to get us...and then we heard
the bushes moving AND THE GOATS HOPPED THE FENCE and started chasing
us. What. So we are in our skirts in the middle of no where and had to
hop the fence and sneak walk on the road to escape. I hope that made
sense haha but it was seriously the funniest thing. Attack goats in
the south are real you guys.

I hope everyone had a happy happy Father's Day! And that everyone is
just happy ok :)

Week of June 6th

This past week was full of adventures, like it was super slow but also I can't believe I'm already writing home again..
For starters, no Kaniyah wasn't baptized but she is still cute as a button and loves the gospel. She actually taught Joyce(her grandma) how to pray last night and it melted my heart. Things just happen in the Lords timing and that's always the best. Always. Like I look back on my experience and how 2 years ago, the missionaries wanted me to be baptized in like May, but I wasn't until June 22nd .It was the perfect day because my brother Chad was able to baptize me and it was absolutely when I was ready. So yah, just trust the Lord.
Last week we decided to walk to downtown Conway which is only like 30 mins away, BUT we got caught in the rain so that was fun, it wasn't letting up and we had appointments to go to so we started walking back and ended up drenched. Lots of people thought we were silly, but you do what you gotta do. Also we decided to try riding our bikes, which was fun. And mom I promise we had helmets on and we totally rode on the side walk, but then it ended so we rode in the little bumpies on the side of the highway, it was only 55 mph speed limit though :)
Ha I LOVE BEING A MISSIONARY RIGHT
I've learned that sometimes we go down the wrong road a little bit, whether by our own choice or by Heavenly Father's, but I know that those times help us to grow. It only strengthens our faith as we continue to trust God and just keep going, that's sometimes all we can do. And I'm so stinking grateful for these times, for without them we would only be who we were yesterday.
"All things work together for good to them that love God. So keep loving. Keep trying. Keep trusting. Keep believing. Keep growing. Heaven is cheering you on today, tomorrow, and forever." Elder Holland April 2016

Here's a pic of me eating a burger on my 6 month mark, also my cutie comp loves pictures and how cute is Kaniyah and this baby
